JensenJohn R., Remote Sensing of the Environment: An Earth Resource Perspective, New Jersey: Prentice Hall, 544 pages.

    (Spring 2018)

    Course Overview:

A graduate level course focusing on remotely sensed data for environmental applications. This course will introducestudents to the fundamental knowledge on the physics of remote sensing and different remote sensing systems. The emphasis of the course will be on the applications of remotely sensed data to studying vegetation, water resources, urban landscape, and soil and geomorphologies.

Instructor: Shishi Liu is the associate professor of the School of Resources and Environment at Huazhong Agricultural University. Dr. Liu receivedher PhD degree in physical geography at University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. Dr. Liu’s email: ssliu@mail.hzau.edu.cn

Young scholars from domestic and abroad universities will be invited to teach the course with Dr. Liu.

RequirementsThe course has 2 credits. To earn the credits, students are required to attend all the lectures and discussions, and finish homework, presentations, etc.

Text book (optional):Jensen, John R., Remote Sensing of the Environment: An Earth Resource Perspective, New Jersey: Prentice Hall, 544 pages.

Since the text book is expensive, it is not required to purchase.Copies of the PowerPoints slides will be provided to the students before each class.

Location: No.1 Teaching Building Room 208.
